Nic Dakin, Co-Chair
Nic Dakin has served as the MP for Scunthorpe since 2010. He has a professional background in education. He is an Opposition Whip, a former Shadow Minister for Education and the former Commons Shadow Deputy Leader. In addition to his role as Vice-Chair of the APPG for Education, Nic is involved in a number of other APPGs including as Chair for the APPG for Skills and Employment. He recently pushed for fairer funding for post-16 education.
Andrea Jenkyns, Co-Chair
Conservative, Morley and Outwood
Andrea Jenkyns was elected MP for Morley and Outwood in 2015. Prior to her election, Andrea served as a Lincolnshire County Councillor for Boston North West. From July 2015 she sat on the Health Select Committee, and she is also a Trustee and the Regional Representative for the charity MRSA Action UK. As well as co-chairing the APPG for Education, Andrea has Chaired the APPG on Local Democracy and the APPG on Patient Safety, and Vice Chaired the APPG on UK Music. Andrea is passionate charity fundraiser, singer, healthcare activist and animal lover.
Emma Hardy, Vice-Chair
Labour, Kingston upon Hull West and Hessle
Emma was elected MP for Kingston upon Hull West and Hessle at the 2017 General Election. Before entering parliament, Emma was a teacher and a campaigner for the UNITE teachers union. She chose to enter politics due to her passion for education reform. In her first month at Westminster she was appointed as an Education Select Committee member and Vice-Chair of the Education APPG.
Lord Storey, Vice-Chair
Lord Storey has been a Liberal Democrat Peer since 2011 and the party Spokesperson on Education, Families and Young people since 2013. He has previously held positions as a councillor and Lord Mayor of Liverpool, as well as extensive experience as a teacher, deputy headteacher and headteacher of several primary schools. He brings expert knowledge of the education system and a reputation as a committed peer to his role as Vice-Chair of the APPG.
