The personal data we are collecting and processing is:

  • contact details (email addresses, home/work addresses, phone numbers that are provided by the user)
  • organisational affiliations
  • topics of interest
  • areas of expertise
  • in some cases, we might make a record if you have attended one of our events or participated in one of our panels

Use of your personal data

We consider the purposes for the processing to be business purposes. This includes the continued business of the APPG for Education to inform and engage Parliamentarians with the development of education policy. We consider the lawful basis to be:

  • the processing is necessary for Parliamentary functions
  • you have consented to the use of your personal data for mailing list purposes and/or
  • the processing is necessary for our legitimate interests when balanced against your interests.

Storage and retention of your personal data

The retention period for the collection of this personal data is for as long as it is required to fulfil the purpose for which it was collected, after which the personal data will be disposed of securely.

Disclosure and security of your personal data

We may disclose your personal data to third parties when permitted to do so, we may also share your personal data with other organisations where a lawful basis exists.

Who will my data be shared with?

For the purposes of this policy, your personal data may be shared internally, for example with those that provide the Secretariat, staff of the UK Parliament, Members of Parliament, and Peers.

Where will my data be stored?

Your personal data is stored in the UK, however we (or processors acting on our behalf, such as Microsoft or Mailchimp, used in sending mailouts) may also store or process your personal data in countries outside the European Economic Area. This occurs only where we are assured of the security of the data. We have put in place technical and organisational security measures to minimise the possibility of the loss or unauthorised access of your personal data.
